Star of Wonder Ornaments

If you remember, my Christmas t-shirt this
year is blue and purple with the words:
"Star of Wonder, Star of Night;
Star with Royal Beauty Bright"
I am busy painting glass ornaments with
patterns and designs from the shirt design.
They will be for sale at the Downtown
Christmas Open House on November 13th.

White Trash

Our little town does downtown trick-or-treating, and
it was today (because there is an out of town high school
football game tomorrow...everything revolves around
football...) Anyway, we all dressed up at the Pea Patch,
and I was "White Trash". My cook was a banana, her
assistant was a motorcycle mama; there was a flower
child, a 50's girl, and cat woman.

Our church hosted a Halloween carnival with games and
prizes. I helped in the coke and popcorn booth, and I
know we served 500 cokes. It was a hoot...I love to see
the children in their costumes.

Happy Halloween!

Dog gone...

I was able to finish this pet portrait last night. I
did it in pen and ink first, and then painted it with
watercolor. I still have one more to do for this
client, one of her husband with the dog, and I will
start on it tonight.

A dog for Christmas

Have been doing all sorts of things other than
drawing and painting...lots of stuff for the gallery;
signs, etc. I started on this dog tonight, one of
several commissions I have to do for Christmas
gifts. I will paint it in watercolor when I am
finished with the ink drawing.

costa rica shells

This is a digitally enhanced photo that I am using
in a collage on canvas for the Costa Rica show.
There will be a pair of them, in blues and browns
on 12 x 12 gallery wrapped canvases. I will have
to post the finished product later....my digital
camera is on loan.

Started today to set up the gallery for the show.
It will take me about a week. It should all come
together. The opening is the 13th of November.

Hibiscus Canvas

Doing a few more things for the Costa Rica show.
This is a photo of a yellow hibiscus that I am
going to collage onto a canvas, and then add a
painted border.

I am in the process of framing several of the
other pieces. I think it will all come together.
Will keep you posted.

Pencil Portrait

I worked on this portrait all day at the art
festival. I had a lot of compliments, and
should get a few commissions, hopefully!
It still needs a little tweaking....

Showtime

I just got back from the Columbia Art and Folk
Festival. I was entertained all day...that is a
community band that played some Sousa; that
is a shot of part of the downtown booths; some
silly teenagers rode the kiddie train; and an
r & b band finished up the day with some Earth,
Wind, and Fire. I enjoyed the music all day...
my booth was close by. The weather was just
right, and there was a fair crowd. Not many
sales, however. I think the economy has
everyone scared, and art is the last thing they
want to spend money on right now. I did give
out a lot of info on portraits, and should get
some commissions.

Autumn on my mind

Thought I would share this typical autumn
image. I said earlier that I really like this
time of year, and I guess pumpkins are
part of that. Several years ago, I had
decorated our porch with some pumpkins,
and mums. One morning, however, I went
out and the pumpkins were gone. I thought
my husband must have disposed of them,
but upon closer inspection, I saw tiny pieces
of pumpkin scattered around the patio, and
an occasional pumpkin seed stuck to the
concrete. It seems that the wild hogs in the woods
had found their way to my porch, and
proceeded to devour every bit of my autumn
decorations.
I only decorate with the mums now!

Home Show

I am back home from the show in San Antonio.
It was great fun to see family and friends. I had
a few good sales. It was the first time I had
shown the photos on canvas, and there was some
interest in them.
I have another show this weekend, just a one-day
festival in Columbia. I will be demonstrating
pencil portraits, and have some drawings for
sale. I hope to get some portrait commissions
for Christmas.

Art Show Update

Had a good time at the show today. A gentleman
from Boerne bought this little watercolor of Big
Bend. He said he had always wanted to go there,
and will perhaps make the trip sometime soon.
I also sold a few Costa Rica prints. An old friend
stopped by and bought a few prints. And another
old friend came by to say hello. I got a chance to
look at a lot of the other artist's work, which I
always enjoy. So, it was a good day: full of laughter,
new and old faces, some good food, and lots of
artwork. Couldn't be more blessed....

Playing Tourist

I am in San Antonio for an art show, and we
spent part of the day yesterday doing all the
tourist things in town. My daughter is with
me, and she hadn't been here in a long time.
So, we went to the zoo, the Mexican market,
rode the river boat downtown, and went to
the Alamo. My brother got to go with us, and
we all had a great time. We set up the booth
at the show late in the afternoon, and the show
is today and tomorrow.
Will keep you posted!

On the Prowl

When I go out to take photos around the house,
I am usually accompanied by the 3 cats. And they
usually end up in some of the shots. Huey is the
light grey one, that thinks he is "Simba". He has a
very sweet disposition. Dewey is the black one, and
is the strong, silent type. He is the most devoted to
me, and will follow me anywhere. Louie is the dark
striped one. He is the biggest, and kind of the bully.
He likes to play, but he is a serious hunter. They
keep me company, and I am blessed to have them.
I am preparing to go to the show in San Antonio.
It will be in La Villita in downtown Saturday the 4th,
and Sunday the 5th. I am taking some watercolors,
and some photography, a few colored pencil prints,
and a couple of pencil drawings. I am taking all of
the Big Bend work that I had left from the Schepis
show, and several San Antonio paintings and photos.
It is fun for me to be in my hometown, and see family
and friends.
