An Evening in Peru-Dinner Party!

I have had many of you asking when our next dinner party/gallery talk would be.  Well, you don't have to wait much longer!  Our "Evening in Peru" will be
on Saturday February 23rd at 6PM.

Pete and Hannah Schneider will again be our chefs, and they
are planning some delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts for
the occasion.  After we enjoy the meal, I will give a
gallery talk and slide show about our trip to Peru and
my resulting artwork.

We will start taking reservations now.  You can call the gallery and
reserve your spot.  The tickets are $35.00 and there will only be
30 spots available. I am looking forward to it, it should
be a great time.

Class Time

Kate and Kate, working side by side!  Anna is doing her thing too!

Samuel is hard at work on his wild animal creation.

This was my little example for them today.

We resumed our Wednesday art classes today.  We
did some fun little collages, using some tissue paper,
scrapbooking paper, and some bits and pieces.  They
had fun, as usual!  And took home their little
creations...finished and proud.

You can pick up a schedule of art classes at the
Pea Patch Gallery.  The classes are for ages 10 and
up, and they are $10.

Flower Art

While I was at market, I was across the aisle from this booth.  It is a
very successful business run by some young girls, and they were
very busy.  I thought I would share their website with you, and
you could check them out.  They make cute hats with a frayed
flower in lots of different styles.

Heavenly Sunset

I drove to nearby Black Lake late this afternoon, because
the sky was shaping up to be a great sunset.  I was not disappointed!
I took photos from several different locations, and I am always
amazed at how fast the sky changes.  There were several boats full
of fisherman coming in while I was there, and they helped make the
ripples on the water.  I wish I could have gotten some ducks flying
over, but there weren't any.  All in all, it was beautiful, and peaceful for
a Sunday evening.

Show Pics Rewind

Just a few more pics from the Gift Market...these were in the
vintage cash and carry furniture/decorative side.
These antique booths were incredible...so many creative
uses of vintage stuff.   I love these old vintage labels
on old window frames...so colorful.

I am home and tying to get things straightened out at the
gallery.  We have in some new spring things, and I am
working in some of the art that I brought back.

A View of the Show

This is Brad, and he makes vintage angels, birds, etc.  He was one of my
neighbors, and he and his wife were very helpful.

One of his angels....neat

This is a mosaic using vintage t cups, and
shades of blue...beautiful, and lots of hard work!

This is Susan, and she makes the mosaics...cool

This is Mike, and he sells leather purses and wallets made by the Native
Americans.  He lives in Phoenix, and reps their handiwork.  Nice guy!

These are some of the designs on the bags.

I was able to go upstairs today and try to show you how large this
show is.  This is just the Cash and Carry section.  Through that door is
the Cash and Carry Vintage Home section, filled with antiques,
reproduction furniture, etc.

I am all packed up and ready to come home.  It was a
great experience.  I met and talked to SO many people
and business owners, showing them my products and
introducing myself.  I did sell some things, but I hope to
get some online orders as well.  I have already
committed to come back in June and do it again.

YeeHaw!

I am still in Dallas at the gift market, and I have been selling
lots of cowboy and Texas images.  I wish I had brought more!
I sold these two today, along with some other boot themed pieces
to a woman who owns a decorative accessories and furniture business
near Austin.  She would like more pieces like this, maybe some windmills
and barns.  I will get some done, and let her know.

I also sold some of the chalkboards today, and have some interest in more
of them also from several clients.   I have given out a lot of brochures and info
to lots of buyers from gift shops all over the area, so I should see
some online orders in the near future.  They have also given me some
ideas about what they want.  I would like to come out here again in June,
and I will definitely have some more of what they are looking for!

Time to Swing

I am still at market in Dallas, and I am set up in the vintage and
handmade section.  At the end of the day today, they had a
swing dance exhibition, celebrating "vintage" style.  A group
came and danced away to songs by Glenn Miller.  It was great...
very peppy and fun at the end of a long day!

We did well today.  My bags will be in several more shops in Texas,
Oklahoma and Missouri!

Neighbors

Here is the booth at 8:30 this morning!

This is my neighbor, Crystal, with her sterling silver spoon jewelry.

And there is my name: GHS Enterprises on the Market Hall sign made
out of pallets!

This is my neighbors to the other side of me...Crabby Creek Designs.
Linda makes and paints all this neat stuff.  I love all the bright
colors and quirky combinations.  So did lots of people...she was
super busy all day, and sold out of all of her large pieces.

This is more of her booth.  Late this afternoon, it was nearly empty!
My day was not nearly so busy...we did ok, but I am hoping
for a busier day tomorrow.  My daughter flew out to help me,
and we had a lot of fun together.  She re-arranged the booth
late this afternoon, and it does look better.  So, we will
show up again tomorrow, and see how it goes.

Booth Done

First of all, let me say these pics were taken with my
phone...sorry they are blurry.  I will take my
camera with me tomorrow!  This is the big door
display with all the bags.

Seen from the side...my booth at the Cash and Carry
section of the Dallas Gift Market

I am on the corner of the second row of the giant room .  There are
probably 200 vendors in this room alone, and over in the World
Trade Center, there are several hundred more!
200,000 buyers are supposed to come through here before
next Monday!  So, surely I can sell SOMETHING!

more tomorrow....it starts at 8:30 in the morning

Dallas Day One

Early this morning...on the road

This is the InfoMart...this is where the buyers come to buy electronics.
It is next door to the World Trade Center.

And here it is!

Ready to unload

This is inside the Suburban...this is all of the breakable stuff.

This is after they delivered this much to the booth.  Now to set up.

This is a start...will finish setting up tomorrow.

Well, I made it this far.  There was very little traffic today, and I made
it here with no problem.  I got everything moved out of the
trailer.  I have an inside storage area for extra merchandise,
so it is all there until I need it.  I will finish unloading all the
breakable windows and framed artwork in the morning.  I have
someone coming to help me.  We should have the booth
finished before the end of the day.  woohoo!
Now, for a hot bath and a movie....
